Growing up, my mum had a HUGE collection of hair accessories for my sister and I. We both had natural hair and she had all these creative ways of tying our hair. I dreaded the days my hair was not plaited because combing my hair was a job! My mum had to deal with my fidgeting and numerous complains and if worse comes to worse, crying and at that point, my mother would threaten me with a trip to the barber’s.
She also NEVER made our hair in the living room, because she would have to deal with us trying to watch television.
Back then, hair accessories were plain, but I like how people have creatively turned the same accessories into cute up-to-date accessories by using fabrics like; Leso, Kitenge, Kente and Khangas
Here are some of those accessories;
1. Virgin Clips
Why did we (Kenyans) call these clips “virgin” clips????
3. Hair combs
4. Hair bows
